Progress

Progress reports went home today for the second six weeks. I didn't know this, but Grace informs me that you only get a progress report when you have earned a grade lower than a B in any class. Huh. I learned something new. I just assumed that everyone got one. She got one last six weeks (but she also had two C's last time... that she brought up by report card time), so I was expecting one today. Imagine my glee when my sweet girl greets me at the car with a big toothy grin announcing to everyone with ears to hear... "I didn't get one Mom! Not this time! AND I got a 94 on my Declaration of Independence memory thingy!" I gave her a high 5 and a BIG Yeehaw! Then something odd happened. She hopped in the car and sat speechless, staring out the window smiling, the whole ride home.

She was proud of herself.

Now that's progress.

Nuts and Bolts

Ok I've got to stop tryin' to make time to compose beautifully descriptive tomes depicting the goings on in my life and just write somethin' down for pete's sake! Here's the last few months in a nut shell... a GIANT nut shell.

* Grace started 4th Grade. We love her teacher. She's young but very organized and OOZES structure. Gotta love that! There's still a part of me, buried very, very, very deep, that wishes we could still home school... but I know that's more of a "just want to prove I can do it" issue, not so much a "what's best for Grace" issue. Being the grown up that I am, I've come to accept our choice for her education... dare I say even enjoy it.

* Zane started PreK. OMGosh he's so stinkin' big. Again I LOVE his teachers. He's 1 of only 4 boys in the class... 14 kids in total. Let me just tell you he's in heaven. He LOVES little girls. Lance says it's a Madden thing. I just think "how could the little darlin's not just adore such a remarkable young man"?

* Grace started playin' baseball this Fall. That's right baseball. Not softball. Baseball. She was encouraged by her Uncle Jesse and that's all it took. She's one of two girls on a coed team at the Y and really likes it. We're down to 1 game and she's finally swinging at the ball. She's got one heck of a swing but she's just too self conscious to hit in front of everyone. Hitting at practice and at the games isn't quite as safe and encouraging as hitting with Uncle Jesse. He's a one man cheer leading squad! She did get a HOME RUN at practice last week... the first time she's swung at the ball all season. Maybe she can knock it out of the park for the last game. Wouldn't that just ROCK!?!?!

* We went on a family vacation to New Mexico (New Meskico as Zane would say) to see the Balloon Fiesta (pictures to be posted soon). It was one of the things Jackie said was a must see... so we went to see! I was raised to to as I was told. It was AWESOME. And this may sound silly, but I felt Jackie smilin' on us the whole time... almost like she was there with us. We got to visit Danny, Leigh Ann, and the boys... always an adventure. The visit was short and sweet... just right!

* I've started riding my bike again. It's been 2 years for me as well. Geeze, that is hard to say. I signed up for 25 mile ride after gettin' back on my bike just two weeks before. Tammie is tryin' to kill me. I did it and I didn't die. My regular routine is Ride 11 to 16 miles M/W/F and Run/Walk T/Th. Saturday is up for grabs, and Sunday is my day off! I've stuck to it pretty well since the ride. We've got a 35 miler comin' up in November. I hope I can pull it off.

* My brother is getting married. Finally! I mean come on... he's 30 years old already! :) He and Annie have asked Zane to be one of the ring bearers in the wedding. I took a couple pictures of the discussion between Uncle and Nephew... I'll post them later as well. All Zane really understands is that he gets to help Uncle Lance with something BIG, at church, in front of some people he probably wont know. He's 4. That's all he's going to understand. Oh, and that he's gettin' another Aunt like Aunt Tammie.

This nut shell is fixin' to explode, so I'll be done for now. I'll try, again, to do better from here on out!
